LGT Game 1- World Eaters vs Leagues of Votaan

I recently attend the London Grand Tournament for 40k with my World Eaters. My first game was against Si and his Leagues of Votaan.

The first mission was Terraform, with sweeping engagement deployment and swift deployment.

My army consisted of:
Angron
Lord Invocatus
Master of Executions- Berserker Glaive
Chaos Lord on Juggernaught- Favoured of Khorne
10 Berzerkers- 3 Plasma Pistols, Icon
Rhino
10 Jakhals
10 Jakhals
2 Chaos Spawn
6 Exalted Eightbound
3 Exalted Eightbound
3 Eightbound
Forgefiend- 2 Hades Autocannons, Ectoplasma Cannon

This is a tournament list I have been playing about with for a little while. It has been performing pretty well for me, so would be interested to see how it fared at a larger event.

Si's army consisted of:
Brokhyr Iron-master
Einhyr Champion
Kahl
10 Hearthkin warriors
3 Sagitaurs
6 Thunderkyn- Graviton
5 Beserks
10 Hearthguard
5 Hearthguard
Hekaton Land Fortress- Conversion Beamer
3 units of 3 Pioneers
10 Yaegirs

The Votaan had a lot of strong firepower, as well as the infiltrators and scouting Pioneers that would mess up my inital scout moves.

Winchester GT Overview- Day 2

The second day of the Winchester GT would see me play two more games with my World Eaters. The fourth game was against Michael and his Chaos Knights.

Game 4
This mission was Supply Drop on Crucible of Battle with smoke and mirrors. Michael's army consisted of a Knight Desecrator, 5 Brigands and 6 Karnivores.

I had played Chaos Knights a few times recently and had been able to beat them, so felt ok about this. However, Supply Drop is a tough mission for a combat army and a lot of the middle objectives were in the open against the firepower of a Knight army.

I deployed much of my army hidden in the ruins on the bottom of my deployment zone. Michael set up much of his army far back in his deployment zone, safe from most first turn charges. I used smoke and mirrors to put a unit of Jakhals in reserve, along with the 3-man Exalted. In this game, I used the Forgefiend to hold my home objective. It's firepower would not be of great use against the Knights, and the Jakhals would be more useful for move blocking and sacrificing for objectives.

This would come down to who committed first, as his big Knight could kill Angron and Angron could kill the big Knight.

Winchester GT Overview- Day 1

I recently attended a two-day GT in Winchester. I took my World Eaters, who have been on a good roll recently at local RTTs, and wanted to see how they would fare at a larger event.

My list consisted of:
Angron
Lord Invocatus
Master of Executions- Berserker Glaive
Chaos Lord on Juggernaught- Favoured of Khorne
10 Berzerkers- 3 Plasma Pistols, Icon
Rhino
10 Jakhals
10 Jakhals
2 Chaos Spawn
6 Exalted Eightbound
3 Exalted Eightbound
3 Eightbound
Forgefiend- 2 Hades Autocannons, Ectoplasma Cannon

This is a list I have been trying out recently with the Forgefiend. I like the volume of autocannon shots, as they are great for clearing screens or marine bodies that I would need to trade a unit with in combat. The plasma cannon is also great for chipping away at vehicles or tougher bodies.
The Lord on Juggernaught is there for the blessing re-roll, as well as being a trade piece for actions or clearing units off of objectives.

Terrain Showcase- Tau WTC ruins

This week, I have some new Tau ruins that I painted up for the gaming club. These were from Corvus Games Terrain and printed by one of the club members.

I decided to paint these up in a classic Tau scheme to go with a sand gaming mat. They were undercoated with yellow ochre, then a brown wash was applied. Drybrushing with yellow ochre, then a light drybrush with a tan colour finished the main body of the ruins. I then added some grey for the shutters and brown for some of the details.

These ruins will be used with a WTC layout, giving plenty of cover with the ruins.

Terrain Showcase- Chemzone terrain

Today, I have a board that I completed for the gamemat Chemzone mat that I purchased recently for the club. This scheme was based on a previous commission that I had done. I liked the way it turned out, so decided to do one for the club.

I used card to do the tiles for the flooring on the ruins. along with some mesh to match that on the gaming mat.
