Today's Warhammer 40k hobby update features my three completed Scout Sentinels for my Genestealer Cult army.
These Sentinels were converted to be crewed by some Neophyte Hybrids, so that their armour would match those of the rest of the army. I also magnetised the weapons, so that I could switch out their armament to suit the rest of my army.
I had completed the bulk of the models previously, just needing to paint up the crew to finish off the models.
I shamelessly copied the scheme from Dave at Confessions of a 40k Addict. He painted up his Sentinels in a yellow scheme. I liked it so much, that I copied it for my own. It reminds me of the power lifters in Aliens, so I like the way the scheme goes with the army.
These look great Mike, well done. Is that slate on the base? If you are feeling brave, a couple of small areas done in black/yellow hazard stripes would really enhance the industrial loader look you've gone for. However, having tried hazard stripes myself a few times, you have to be VERY brave indeed...
ReplyDeleteYeah, I added some slate to the base to mix it up and allow me to model one stepping on it. I've got a few hazard stripes on my other cult vehicles, so it would match well. However, I kind of like them the way they are now, so might just leave them alone.
DeleteExcellent mate, love the industrial look of these powerlifters, erm... Sentinels. Tape is easiest for Hazard Stripes, but only if you want, great as is. One little thing to add character would be to defile the Aquila with a black paint stripe or something? To further show their turncoat nature? I did this on my Leman Russ and Sentinel? https://weemen.blogspot.com/2017/07/genestealer-cult-armoured-sentinel.html
ReplyDeleteCheers Siph! Yeah, I was happy with how they turned out. I like the look of the scratched up Aquila, but it could do with some more definition.
Deletelovely stuff.
ReplyDeleteas mentioned above it would be worth a try and paint some hazard chevrons on to see how it goes.
Thanks! I might have to give them a go.
DeleteWow. Those are very yellow! Excellent work getting that much yellow to come out that consistent and that nicely!
ReplyDeleteThanks WestRider. I was happy with how the yellow turned out.
DeleteNice work. Another great edition to the CUlt.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
DeleteThese look great!! I especially like that you put the effort in to change the drivers, and the bases look really nice, too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris! Swapping the crew is just a little touch, but I think it works well on the model and brings it together with the rest of the army.
