It is done! After many, many years, my collection now appears to be complete!
A couple of years ago, I showcased my old second edition card terrain that I have been collecting. In the original article, I had just obtained a couple more of the kits (that are still waiting painting and assembly!), and was only missing the old card Bastion. Now, I have the kit and my collection is complete.
After reading the recent Old Stuff Day post where I highlighted the article again, regular reader and commenter Dave got in touch to let me know that he had one of the Bastions and was willing to part with it to help me complete my collection.
Dave sent me the Bastion and a bunch of the older card terrain that I already have. For free. From the US.
Dave's amazing generosity was unbelievable and very much appreciated. Dave has his own blog, 262nd Death Korps of Kreig, that you should definitely check out. He will shortly be appearing on Better Know a Blogger, so you can find more about Dave and his blog.
As I already have some of the card terrain, I have decided to add them to my birthday giveaway. There will now be a second and third prize from the draw. Second place will receive either the Firebase or Power Plant (their choice) and third place will receive whichever card terrain piece is left.
(Please note, the pictures are representative of the prize only. The terrain is not fully assembled and does not include the original boxes).

ReplyDeleteThey should definitely bring some of this back - the plastic terrain they do is incredible but filling a table with it is crippling, these however they could happily churn out by the bucketload and would be more than enough for most tables.
It's amazing how well it still holds up.

DeleteI did have one of those when they first came out, but it has been lost to time.
DeleteGood to see everything arrived and found a good home. The bastion was my first based terrain piece! Well...not counting hand cut foam hills, I guess...those were the days.

ReplyDeleteIf anyone is looking for more recent card terrain, they do some great kits for Infinity that have 4 small buildings with flat walled tops and 6 container looking crates for about £10. They even come with a thick paper mat to cover the floor with too. Amazing for the price! (The Navajo Outpost pack is probably the most suitable aesthetically for 40k)
ReplyDeleteThat Imperial Firebase really takes me back though. Seeing it with Termagants and Blood Angels on it makes me feel like I'm 12 years old all over again!
I will second their use and great price. I have two sets of these and they work well with casual games.

I have a Firebase in my Necromunda terrain box, great additions with the barrels and base. Great job mate
