Hobby Sunday 24/07/16- White Scars Grav Cannon Devastators and Dreadnought

This week's Hobby Sunday features my Grav Cannon Devastators and my White Scars Dreadnought.

I bought the Devastators from ebay back in February. I stumbled across them and there were 4 Devastators with Grav Cannons and a Sergeant with a combi-grav going for only £15! An absolute bargain. I snapped them up instantly and have finally got round to painting them. I have only used them once in a game and they are awesome, I will be using them much more in the future.

The squad came on the new 32 mm bases. I must admit, the marines actually look really good on the 32 mm bases. I was intending to swap them to 25 mm bases to fit in with the rest of my army, but the new Devastators have been practising their power stances for air guitar and won't actually fit on a 25 mm base.

I also painted up my Dreadnought. This was slightly converted to have a heavy flamer instead of a storm bolter. I haven't really used this unit much, but hope to use it more in the future. I need to run some White Scars lists with the more unusual units in my army that I never field.

So with the Devastators and Dreadnought completed, I only have 3 units left to complete my army; 5 Vanguard Veterans and two Rhinos.

  1. Great Devs, yeah they always rock! The re-roll of 20 dice helps plus the Serg 3 on arrival in a Skyhammer Annihilation pod helps!

    1. Cheers Marc. I had a look at doing some OSL (I think that's what it's called), but haven't really tried it before, so just went for a simple blue.

  3. The white you've done on the Grav look particularly brilliant dude! The backpacks are really nice and smooth.

Also agree with Marc, nice blue for the energy :)

    1. Cheers Rob. The White is really easy to due, just a shade and a couple of drybrushes with grey and white. I'll need to put together a guide at some point.

  4. Pal, you need to try those Devs with a cataphractii captain. He makes them relentless so multiplying their firepower massively in games and they can stay further away from retaliation.

    1. I was gonna say. Cataphractii Captain+Devs is such a great combo.

    2. I'll save that combo for particularly fromage-heavy armies!

  5. Played that against him at the Caledonian Revolution Friday Open, he's definitely aware of it!

  6. Loving the white all those, but they seem almost unfinished. Are you not going to do that shoulder pad trims? That splash of colour would really help break things up I think.

    1. Yeah, I need to add the shoulder decals, just haven't got round to it yet.
