LGT game 2- World Eaters vs Agents of the Imperium

The second game of the LGT saw my World Eaters going into the Agents of the Imperium. The mission was Purge the Foe, on crucible of battle with smoke and mirrors.

My army consisted of:
Angron
Lord Invocatus
Master of Executions- Berserker Glaive
Chaos Lord on Juggernaught- Favoured of Khorne
10 Berzerkers- 3 Plasma Pistols, Icon
Rhino
10 Jakhals
10 Jakhals
2 Chaos Spawn
6 Exalted Eightbound
3 Exalted Eightbound
3 Eightbound
Forgefiend- 2 Hades Autocannons, Ectoplasma Cannon

This is a tournament list I have been playing about with for a little while. It has been performing pretty well for me, so would be interested to see how it fared at a larger event.

Aaron's army consisted of:
Callidus Assassin
Eversor Assassin
Vindicare Assassin
Inquisitor Draxus
2 Navigators
Rogue Trader Entourage
4 x 10 Navy Breachers
2 x 5 Inquisitorial Agents
3 x 10 Subjugator Squad
2 x 5 Voidsmen
3 Armiger Warglaives
Chimera

A very horde guard-like army, which my army would be very good into. The Armigers were the biggest threat to Angron and my units, so would need to be dealt with.

LGT Game 1- World Eaters vs Leagues of Votaan

I recently attend the London Grand Tournament for 40k with my World Eaters. My first game was against Si and his Leagues of Votaan.

The first mission was Terraform, with sweeping engagement deployment and swift deployment.

My army consisted of:
Angron
Lord Invocatus
Master of Executions- Berserker Glaive
Chaos Lord on Juggernaught- Favoured of Khorne
10 Berzerkers- 3 Plasma Pistols, Icon
Rhino
10 Jakhals
10 Jakhals
2 Chaos Spawn
6 Exalted Eightbound
3 Exalted Eightbound
3 Eightbound
Forgefiend- 2 Hades Autocannons, Ectoplasma Cannon

This is a tournament list I have been playing about with for a little while. It has been performing pretty well for me, so would be interested to see how it fared at a larger event.

Si's army consisted of:
Brokhyr Iron-master
Einhyr Champion
Kahl
10 Hearthkin warriors
3 Sagitaurs
6 Thunderkyn- Graviton
5 Beserks
10 Hearthguard
5 Hearthguard
Hekaton Land Fortress- Conversion Beamer
3 units of 3 Pioneers
10 Yaegirs

The Votaan had a lot of strong firepower, as well as the infiltrators and scouting Pioneers that would mess up my inital scout moves.

Winchester GT Overview- Day 2

The second day of the Winchester GT would see me play two more games with my World Eaters. The fourth game was against Michael and his Chaos Knights.

Game 4
This mission was Supply Drop on Crucible of Battle with smoke and mirrors. Michael's army consisted of a Knight Desecrator, 5 Brigands and 6 Karnivores.

I had played Chaos Knights a few times recently and had been able to beat them, so felt ok about this. However, Supply Drop is a tough mission for a combat army and a lot of the middle objectives were in the open against the firepower of a Knight army.

I deployed much of my army hidden in the ruins on the bottom of my deployment zone. Michael set up much of his army far back in his deployment zone, safe from most first turn charges. I used smoke and mirrors to put a unit of Jakhals in reserve, along with the 3-man Exalted. In this game, I used the Forgefiend to hold my home objective. It's firepower would not be of great use against the Knights, and the Jakhals would be more useful for move blocking and sacrificing for objectives.

This would come down to who committed first, as his big Knight could kill Angron and Angron could kill the big Knight.

Winchester GT Overview- Day 1

I recently attended a two-day GT in Winchester. I took my World Eaters, who have been on a good roll recently at local RTTs, and wanted to see how they would fare at a larger event.

My list consisted of:
Angron
Lord Invocatus
Master of Executions- Berserker Glaive
Chaos Lord on Juggernaught- Favoured of Khorne
10 Berzerkers- 3 Plasma Pistols, Icon
Rhino
10 Jakhals
10 Jakhals
2 Chaos Spawn
6 Exalted Eightbound
3 Exalted Eightbound
3 Eightbound
Forgefiend- 2 Hades Autocannons, Ectoplasma Cannon

This is a list I have been trying out recently with the Forgefiend. I like the volume of autocannon shots, as they are great for clearing screens or marine bodies that I would need to trade a unit with in combat. The plasma cannon is also great for chipping away at vehicles or tougher bodies.
The Lord on Juggernaught is there for the blessing re-roll, as well as being a trade piece for actions or clearing units off of objectives.

Terrain Showcase- Tau WTC ruins

This week, I have some new Tau ruins that I painted up for the gaming club. These were from Corvus Games Terrain and printed by one of the club members.

I decided to paint these up in a classic Tau scheme to go with a sand gaming mat. They were undercoated with yellow ochre, then a brown wash was applied. Drybrushing with yellow ochre, then a light drybrush with a tan colour finished the main body of the ruins. I then added some grey for the shutters and brown for some of the details.

These ruins will be used with a WTC layout, giving plenty of cover with the ruins.

Terrain Showcase- Chemzone terrain

Today, I have a board that I completed for the gamemat Chemzone mat that I purchased recently for the club. This scheme was based on a previous commission that I had done. I liked the way it turned out, so decided to do one for the club.

I used card to do the tiles for the flooring on the ruins. along with some mesh to match that on the gaming mat.

Battle Report- World Eaters vs Daemons

This week's game sees my World Eaters take on Laurence's Chaos Daemons in a UKTC tournament mission.

Laurence has been a regular attendee at the tournaments we run at Didcot Wargames Club, and he wanted to test his Daemons against the World Eaters for an upcoming tournament. We were playing the Burden of Trust mission with Search and Destroy deployment.

My list consisted of:
Angron
Lord Invocatus
Master of Execution- Berzerker Glaive
Juggernaught Lord- Favoured of Khorne
10 Berzerkers
10 Jakhals
10 Jakhals
Rhino
6 Exalted Eightbound
3 Exalted Eightbound
3 Eightbound
Chaos Spawn
Forgefiend

I took a modified list for something I have been trying out. I wanted to try the Forgefiend to add some firepower for clearing screening units or destroying vehicles. I also took the Juggernaught Lord for an extra unit for doing actions or for trading.

Master of Execution (Berserker Glaive)
Kharn
10 Berzerkers

Mystic Games RTT: Game 1- World Eaters vs Orks

I recently attended a 34-player RTT, held by Mystic Games in Witney. Game 1 saw my World Eaters take on Scott's Dread Mob Orks. The mission was Take and Hold, with Hammer and Anvil deployment and hidden supplies (extra objective).

This tournament took place after the recent balance update, so those rules were in effect. However, the event was still using the Leviathan missions, as it was held very close to the release of the new missions cards and they couldn't guarantee that everyone could get a set in time.

My army consisted of:
Angron
Lord Invocatus
Master of Execution (Berserker Glaive)
Kharn
10 Berzerkers
5 Berzerkers
Rhino
Rhino
10 Jackals
10 Jackals
2 Spawn
3 Eightbound
6 Exalted Eightbound
3 Exalted Eightbound

I had made a couple of changes since the last tournament list thanks to the points drops in the recent dataslate. I was able to drop a unit of Eightbound, which gave me enough points to take Kharn and a second Rhino for the 5-man squad.

I like the Berzerkers, but the 5-man didn't really do a lot in my previous games. They don't have the damage output on their own, but are good for holding objectives. Adding Kharn would seriously boost their damage output, and the extra Rhino would be good for keeping them safe and getting them around the battlefield.

Winchester Tournament: Game 3- World Eaters vs Grey Knights

Game 3 of the recent Winchester Tournament saw my World Eaters take on Dan's Grey Knights in Take and Hold with Search and Destroy deployment (with Hidden Supplies extra objective).

My army consisted of:
Angron
Lord Invocatus
Master of Execution (Berserker Glaive)
10 Berzerkers
5 Berzerkers
Rhino
10 Jackals
10 Jackals
2 Spawn
3 Eightbound
3 Eightbound
6 Exalted Eightbound
3 Exalted Eightbound

Terrain Showcase- Corrupted Land Nurgle Infestation

I recently completed another board for Didcot Wargames Club. This board was themed to fit in with the corrupted land gaming mat from pwork wargames. The terrain was a set of 3D-printed ruins, with some tentacles and corruption oozing out of the walls.

I undercoated the walls brown, followed by painting some burnt sienna on the brickwork. The walls were then given a highlight of a lighter tan colour. The corruption was basecoated with sap green, then given a highlight drybrush of a mix of sap green and white.
I then added some fluorescent green paint, followed by a mix of the fluorescent green and yellow.

The ruins work well in the GW tournament format, with acrylic bases to simulate the area of the ruins.

My army consisted of:
Angron
Lord Invocatus
Master of Execution (Berserker Glaive)
10 Berzerkers
5 Berzerkers

Winchester Tournament: Game 1- World Eaters vs Tyranids

I recently attend a one-day tournament in Winchester, taking my World Eaters for the three games. This event featured some custom terrain layouts, the first time I had tried them.

Game 1 was against Charles and his Tyranids, playing Scorched Earth on sweeping engagement, with the Supply Drop special rule.

My army consisted of:
Angron
Lord Invocatus
Master of Execution (Berserker Glaive)
10 Berzerkers
5 Berzerkers
Rhino
10 Jackals
10 Jackals
2 Spawn
3 Eightbound

Battle Report- World Eaters vs Votaan

This week's game sees the World Eaters take on the Leagues of Votaan in a 2000 pts UKTC game. After a random draw of the cards, we were playing Priority Targets on Search and Destroy, with secret intel (can draw an extra secondary card).

My army consisted of:
Angron
Lord Invocatus
Master of Execution (Berserker Glaive)
10 Berzerkers
5 Berzerkers
Rhino
10 Jackals
10 Jackals
2 Spawn
3 Eightbound
6 Exalted Eightbound
3 Exalted Eightbound
Maulerfiend

A very similar list to the last game, but this time I switched out a unit of Eightbound for the Maulerfiend. I had recently picked one up and wanted to try it out. I think the tougher body and high damage attacks should prove to be useful in the army, and give my opponent another target other than Angron to think about.

Terrain Showcase- Warcry Heart of Ghur Terrain

This week, I have some new terrain to use for Age of Sigmar at the club. I've had some of these warcry sets for a while now, and finally got round to painting them up. This scheme was based on the tutorial from Tale of Painters, which is a great resource for paint schemes for warcry terrain.

These boards can be used for Age of Sigmar or Warcry, and go well with the corrupted earth gaming mat that we have.

Battle Report- World Eaters vs Adeptus Custodes

This week, my World Eaters faced off against Simon's Custodes army in our Didcot Wargames Club league battle.
The World Eaters were currently undefeated, so was hoping to get another win against the golden boys.

My army consisted of:
Angron
Lord Invocatus
Master of Execution (Berserker Glaive)
10 Berzerkers
5 Berzerkers
Rhino
10 Jackals
10 Jackals
2 Spawn
3 Eightbound
3 Eightbound
6 Exalted Eightbound
3 Exalted Eightbound

A slightly different mix of units, as I had added another unit of Eightbound to the army.

Terrain Showcase- Gamemat Chemzone GW tournament terrain

Today, I have a recent commission piece to showcase. This was a board that I did to match the Gamemat.eu Chem zone mat. The ruins were some GW tournament style MDF ruins that I had found on ebay a while back, but had never used. The set was actually really good value, getting two tables worth of terrain for only £95.

I started by assembling the ruins, but didn't glue them to the base. I added some cut cardboard shapes to the bases to mimic the style of the mat, as well as leaving some spaces for additional details like the mesh and service panels.

Trying to colour match to the ruins was difficult. I didn't get it perfect, but managed to get a close-ish version. This was a dark grey undercoat, followed by a drybrush of metallic pearl deep brown paint, followed by a silver drybrush. It wasn't a complete match, but I was much happier with that than the first grey effort I did.

UKTC Oxford Super Major- Tournament overview Day 2

I recently attended the Oxford Super Major with my World Eaters army. My first day saw the World Eaters going 2-1, taken out by Necrons in the third game.
My fourth game would see me going into the Aeldari, commanded by Seth.

The list I took was:
Angron
Master of Execution- Berserkers Glaive
Lord Invocatus
10 Berzerkers
Rhino
5 Berzerkers
5 Berzerkers
10 Jackals
10 Jackals
6 Exalted Eightbound
3 Exalted Eightbound
3 Eightbound
2 Chaos Spawn

Seth's army consisted the Avatar, Fuegan, a Farseer, Skyleaper character, two units of Rangers, two units of Shadow Spectres, a unit of Warp Spiders, a unit of Swooping Hawks, Fire Dragons, two D Cannons, a Falcon and two Fire Prisms.
A lot of good firepower and some useful movement tricks with the units and stratagems.

The mission was Scorched Earth with Crucible of Battle and an extra objective. I deployed using my usual set up. Angron went behind the large ruins on the bottom, with a unit of Jackals and the Eightbound. The other unit of Jackals and exalted set up to scout move up, with the Rhino in the middle ruins and a unit of Spawn and Berzerkers to go after the top objectives.

UKTC Oxford Super Major- Tournament Review Day 1

I recently attended the first Oxford Super Major held by the UKTC. This was a new event for 2024 in the area, and I was keen to try it out since it was so local to me. I decided to take my World Eaters, as I have been using them a lot recently in the club league and they are one of the most competitive armies that I currently own.

Overall, I had a great time at the event. The venue was really nice and spacious. There was space on each table to place models, drinks, etc, and plenty of space to move around the hall and between tables, something that is not always the case at UKTC events. The event seemed to run really smoothly and I had some tough games, with no easy wins over the course of the weekend.

The list I took was:
Angron
Master of Execution- Berserkers Glaive
Lord Invocatus
10 Berzerkers
Rhino
5 Berzerkers
5 Berzerkers
10 Jackals
10 Jackals
6 Exalted Eightbound
3 Exalted Eightbound
3 Eightbound
2 Chaos Spawn

I decided to take a second unit of Jackals for screening and move blocking purposes. I swapped out Kharn for the Master of Execution, as he is better into a lot of the meta units at the moment.

Terrain Showcase- UKTC Jungle Board

I recently completed a new terrain set for the gaming club and tournaments we hold. This was to be used with the Frontline Gaming jungle mat, and used the UKTC terrain set. I was wanting to do another one of these for a while, but struggled to get the plastic vines needed for the design that I wanted.

Fortunately, I was able to pick up some plastic vines on a visit to a local garden centre, so was able to put together the set.

Tournament Battle Report- Chaos Daemons vs Blood Angels

Today's battle report features my Khorne Chaos Daemons taking on Tom's Blood Angels army at our Into the Maelstrom 5 club tournament.
This tournament was billed as a friendlier style event, where less powerful lists were used and some of the more unusual missions would be in play. The tournament was using GW layout terrain and featured 16 players.

My army consisted of:
Belakor
Bloodthirster
6 units of Bloodletters
3 Bloodcrushers
3 Bloodcrushers
3 units of 5 Flesh hounds
Skull Cannon

Battle Report- World Eaters vs Space Wolves

Today's game sees my World Eaters take on Mark's Space Wolves in a league game for Didcot Wargames Club. This mission was Scorched Earth using Dawn of War deployment.

My army consisted of:
Angron
Kharn the Betrayer
Lord Invocatus
10 Berzerkers
Rhino
5 Berzerkers
5 Berzerkers
5 Berzerkers
10 Jackals
3 Exalted Eightbound
6 Exalted Eightbound
3 Eightbound
2 Chaos Spawn

This was the army from a recent tournament, but with the Lord on Juggernaught replaced by another unit of 5 Berzerkers, to give me another unit for holding objectives or trading.

Fire and Dice Tournament: Game 2- World Eaters vs Necrons

Game 2 of the tournament would see my World Eaters take on the Hypercrypt Necrons in the Supply Drop mission. This was not a great mission to be playing against this army, as their teleport ability would make it easy for them to get onto the objectives late in the game to get a lot of points on the primary mission.

Fire and Dice Tournament: Game 1- World Eaters vs Iron Hands

I recently attended the Fire and Dice tournament in High Wycombe, taking my new World Eaters army to a tournament for the first time. I had been playing them in the gaming club league for a couple of weeks, so wanted to see how they would perform against some different lists.

This tournament was a tribute to Sid Sidhu, who sadly passed away earlier this year. Sid was a staple of the tournament scene and a lovely person, who was a big supporter of the tournaments that we host at the club. It was really nice to see everyone come together for a great day of gaming and a nice tribute to his memory.

Terrain Showcase- Sector Imperialis GW tournament board.

Today I have a GW-style tournament board that I painted up over the holiday period. I managed to get a good bargain on ebay for the old Sector Imperialis terrain, so was able to build up a GW-style tournament board for my gaming club and tournaments.

I already have a set of ruins painted up in a desert style, red and green terrain, so decided to go with blue for these. I went a bit more in depth with these ruins, painting the windows in gold, as well as adding in some red for the lights and control panels.

I used a similar scheme to the Boarding Actions terrain that I painted up, and was really happy with how they turned out.

Terrain Showcase- UKTC lava board

Hi everyone, today I have another UKTC tournament board. This time, I painted it up to match a lava mat that I have.

This was a really simple scheme to do. The mdf terrain was undercoated black, then highlighted with a dark blue, then grey highlight. Then I did the bottom of the bases with various drybrush coats of red and orange. I focused on the bottom and sides of the ruins, as well as any hole sections in the base to match the gaming mat.
